21.06.2025 - 28.06.2025 / Krijal, Premuda Island, Croatia

Premuda Island, also known as the Island of Happiness (as the islanders like to say), is the westernmost island of the Zadar archipelago, nine kilometres long and up to one kilometre wide. Its highest peak, Vrh, rises 88 m above sea level. The island is covered with black-grass and low vegetation, and recently the islanders have started to clear fields and olive groves again.

The island has a shop and post office, two restaurants, a bar and, from 2022, a diving centre. Premuda is connected to Zadar by a daily boat and ferry service, and during the winter, a ferry lands on Premuda three times a week.

The island is known for its nautical tourism The Krijal anchorage is located in a natural channel between the Masarine cliffs and the Krijal harbour. It has 50 mooring buoys at its disposal. However, nautical tourism on Premuda is very weather-dependent, as Premuda is an outer island, separated from nearby Silba by the Silban Channel, with its western promontory extending into the weather-prone Kvarner Gate, and with its eastern promontory almost touching the neighbouring Škarda, which already belongs to the group of North Dalmatian islands.

A first-class diving destination

Diving is an extremely attractive feature of the island's marine offer. The nearby cliffs of Masarine are the first choice. Excellent visibility through the sea and a sea with an extremely rich fish stock make it an ideal location for beginners as well as more advanced divers. The Bračić cliff is similar, dropping steeply from a depth of 3.4 m into the sea from the outside. The Lutrošnjak islet descends from 5.45 m to about 10 m, and then down a steep wall, which is even covered with sponges, to a depth of 45 m. The main diving attraction remains the "Cathedral", a cluster of dome-shaped rocks and cliffs in Široka Bay, through which sunlight penetrates and creates a wonderful play of colours and light gradients.

So make the last week of June the best time to go diving on this island. The whole week includes diving in the underwater archipelago of Premuda, where the rich flora and fauna of this archipelago offers us gorgonians, lobsters, crawfish, crabs, moray eels, eels, spiny lobsters, cowries, etc. in abundance.

Accommodation is organised in a private house near the diving centre. The house is modernly equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay.
