NITROX DIVER

NITROX DIVER

The development of diving is largely linked to our desire to stay underwater longer. Diving suits are warmer and more comfortable, and tanks contain more air. Decompression or non-decompression limits are becoming more and more important. A dive computer that monitors the actual dive profile and calculates the optimum decompression has become a standard part of our equipment. Nevertheless, we are still not satisfied! We want to stay underwater longer and do less decompression. The latest tool used by divers to extend the dive time is the use of breathing mixtures. The first of these is NITROX (also called ENRICHED AIR, SAFE AIR, etc.).

NITROX is a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen, with more oxygen than in air, usually between 21% and 50%. Because the body absorbs less nitrogen with NITROX as a breathing mixture, we can stay underwater longer without decompressing. It offers the most benefits at depths between 15m and 30m, especially when diving in terrain that does not allow multi-level dives (e.g. sunken ships). It can also be used down to about 50m and for better decompression in technical decompression diving. We now also have NITROX dive computers on the market, which combine the benefits of multi-level diving and NITROX.
